Spooky Scavenger Hunt - Question 4

Question for letter 4

PUMPKIN

What do you see everywhere during Halloween and in this maze? That’s right! Pumpkins! But where does the tradition of using pumpkins on Halloween actually come from? It comes from a very old story. This story is about Jack-o'-Lantern. A man who was forced by the devil to keep walking in circles forever. He begged the devil for a small light so he could illuminate the dark roads. He got it. He just needed something to put the light in. This turned out to be a pumpkin that he had hollowed out. And ta-da! There was his very own light.

Did you know that:

  • Did you know that a pumpkin is 90% water and is therefore quite healthy?
  • Did you know that pumpkins are related to cucumbers, zucchini, pickles, and melons?
